THE BEGINNING OF THE JOURNEY: FIRST FENCING WORKSHOP
The journey toward bringing fencing to East Trinidad began when Joel Hall introduced Noel Johnson to the vision of his aunt, Anne-Marie Walters, a Trinidadian fencing pioneer determined to see Trinidad and Tobago represented in Olympic fencing. What began as a conversation quickly became a shared vision and, through the Legacy & Hope Foundation Youth Development Program, was transformed into action. Despite limited financial resources, the Foundation hosted its first-ever fencing workshop in East Trinidad, welcoming 11 participants to Noel Johnson’s residence. It was a modest beginning—but one that marked the first step toward building a lasting pathway for fencing in Trinidad and Tobago and a future on the international stage.
