THE POP-UP RACE: WHEN THE COMMUNITY ANSWERED THE CALL

THE POP-UP RACE: WHEN THE COMMUNITY ANSWERED THE CALL

After the race, the finish line was far from the end. We were left with resources to reconcile, bills to pay, and promises to keep. With Whitney preparing to return home, leadership knew there was no time to rest—we needed a solution. Then came the very people we had connected with at the race. They gave us more than encouragement; they gave us a blueprint. And once again, we moved. Around the Queen’s Park Savannah, we gathered for an unexpected pop-up race, while the rain threatened and registration seemed to take on a life of its own. The remaining T-shirts disappeared like “hot hops,” but what truly mattered could not be measured in sales. Benevolence came alive. Laughter filled the air. Energy surged. Excitement and entertainment brought strangers together, and the voices of our people rose with one unmistakable message: “Give us another race in 2026!” In that moment, our participants did more than show up—they gave the Foundation their stamp of approval. They reminded us that service is bigger than an event, and that when a people come together with purpose, we become the answer to the call—because, as Black Stalin so powerfully reminded us, “our country need us today more than ever.”
